Rosemary’s Story

Rosemary portrait Love LivedAt the age of 21, Rosemary met her first love, a spitfire pilot named Tom. The two met at a dance while they were both serving in the army during the war, and as Rosemary recalls, it was love at first sight. After a year of seeing each other, Brian asked Rosemary to be his wife, and she happily said yes. Unfortunately, before they could announce their engagement, Tom was called out for duty and killed while flying over Germany. Heartbroken and in shock, Rosemary did not want to carry on without Tom. She tried returning to the army, but she found it almost impossible to work at the same base where she had met Tom. However, with time and an assignment to a new base, she began to move forward with her life.

28 years later, Rosemary had found a job working at the Co-operative when a South African bus inspector named Robert began to pursue her. He would always come into the canteen at the Co-op whenever Rosemary was on her break and grab at coffee near the church she attended in order to spend as much time with her as possible. Despite his many romantic gestures and, eventually, proposals, Rosemary was reluctant to fall in love again, given what had happened with her first love. But in the end, she decided to take a second chance on Love Lived Cpntact the Elderly Rosemarylove and agreed to one of Robert’s proposals. During their 38 years together, the couple would go out of their way to make the other happy and gained the reputation in their community of the “nice couple that was always holding hands.”

Although Robert passed away 12 years ago, Rosemary still cherishes all the moments they shared. She is very thankful for her friends and family that have helped her cope with the pain of her loss, and she has no regrets about taking that second chance on love.
