Bold Content Broadgate Literary Greats Video [CASE STUDY]

London Broadgate owns and rents out office and commercial space to many world-class corporations and professional practices, but it is also well-known for its diverse events. As Broadgate’s long term video production partner we have captured many of these events on film. Below we take a closer look at how we filmed their Literary Greats event.

Where the Broadgate Literary Greats Video Was Filmed

Filming was done in and around Broadgate and Liverpool Station, primarily in Broadgate Circle.

About the Literary Greats Event

Broadgate holds many events throughout the year, and for their Literary Greats season, the events’ theme has been literature. The collection of events celebrates a selection of British authors including William Shakespeare, Roald Dahl, and Beatrix Potter. With either a direct or tenuous link to the authors, the literary-themed events were engaging and creative. Our crew was there to capture them on film.

One notable event was a kid’s day where children could come for free and participate in activities at the various stations set up around Broadgate. For instance, there was a station dedicated to storytime where the kids could hear stories performed by actors in costume. Here kids could participate in hands-on science activities.

Another part of the Literary Greats season was called the Reading Room. It consisted of a temporary shelter with spots to lounge and a supply of books, many written by famous British authors. Here people could just go take a break and read a book. The Reading Room also played host to several smaller events such as the crafting activity, “Upcycled Journals,” where participants could make their own journals out of old books. The event touched on the importance of recycling while keeping to the literary theme of the Broadgate Reading Room.

How the Literary Greats Events Were Filmed

Each event was filmed using a two camera set-up with the FS700 and the A7S. For most of the shooting, we used a longer lens with the FS700, and so, we were able to capture high quality close-ups of people enjoying the event as well the activities. The A7S was mounted on a Gimbal and was often used during filming as a roaming camera. It allowed us to capture moving shots. For example, if we are filming people walking or children playing at the event, we can move with them. By using the A7S and the Gimbal, we could get floating, dynamic shots that make the viewers feel as though they are moving with the subjects. The two cameras made for a great set-up because of the way their capabilities complement each other.

How the Literary Greats Videos Will Be Used

One goal of the project was to get footage for Broadgate to use for future videos. Then, once this event has drawn to a close, they will be able to create a video summarising it. They also require social media videos, shorter ones for platforms like Instagram and longer ones for platforms similar to Facebook. So, the project was a mixture of getting footage for bigger videos as well as smaller, individual clips.
