Bold Content Typical Costs When Filming A Corporate Video

Corporate Video Costs

Corporate video costs can be complicated and filming corporate videos can be an expensive task. In order to make sure that your provider is treating your budget with care and consideration, we’ve broken down each section of a corporate video and giving a rough guideline on where your budget will be going.

Location

Before thinking about crew, equipment and editing, location should be considered. If you are planning on filming the project in your office then you can disregard location cost from your budget, however keep in mind availability of rooms and noise considerations as the production company won’t have control over those factors. Factors that they would have control over in a paid location. If you are filming in a public location then you may need to consider the costs of obtaining permits for filming.

Crew

After location has been sorted it’s a good idea to speak to the production company about personnel and what they think is the best. Normally more people on set means the production is smoother and takes less time. Certain types of shots are often difficult, or even impossible, to capture without the right crew present. The location may also necessitate more crew for example a sound operator if you are working in a noiser environment. In some cases a larger crew can be counter-productive if the subject of the video isn’t overly comfortable in front of large audiences. The discomfort of the subject can slow down filming which in turn impact cost and the amount of footage that can be captured. The key is to have enough crew present to achieve your goals for the video, without having more than you need.

Equipment

Production companies will have most, if not all the equipment they need. However if you require something specialist then they may have to order the equipment which usually comes at a cost per day, half-week or more depending on the length of the production. In most circumstances it’s unlikely that the client will need external equipment however we’ve found that in most cases that need external equipment is to match equipment from previous filming days in other parts of the country or the world as there are plenty of camera and lighting solutions and everyone uses a different system.

Transport

Most productions happen within London and are commutable by tube for the production crew which is a very small cost in comparison to. everything else. But if a lot of equipment is needed then a car will also be required which will come as an additional cost for petrol and mileage. And if the shoot is outside of London or even the UK then hotels and flights will also come as an additional cost.

Editing

After filming the next step is post-production. Sometimes clients edit their own footage however we always recommend that the production company should complete the entire process due to speed and knowledge of the footage. Depending on what is required by the client depends on the cost, if the client requires motion graphics or complex editing then there will be additional costs due to time.
