Bold Content Prince’s Trust Celebrity Ambassador David Haye Inspires Young People [Case Study Video]

Background to the David Haye Video

We have a long standing relationship with the Prince’s Trust, a youth charity which helps young people aged 13 to 30 to get into jobs, education or training. Prince’s Trust celebrity ambassadors play an important role in that mission by opening young people’s eyes to what is possible and inspiring them to fulfill their potential. Prince’s Trust latest celebrity ambassador is heavyweight boxing champion David Haye. To highlight this partnership we filmed Haye speaking to a group of young people at his private gym in South London.

The Process of Shooting the David Haye Video

We wanted to film the video in very much a documentary style. We combined this with a lot of creative cutaways and close-ups that you probably won’t find in a standard documentary.

David was a fantastic subject for the video. He is a very natural, down to earth guy. This come across brilliantly in the video because we could capture him chatting with the young people in a very impromptu way. These conversations turned into an informal Q & A session.

Despite the generational gap between David Haye and the young people he was talking to, his own experiences were surprisingly relevant to their lives. David talked about his experience with social media. Cyber bullying is something that young people face that is often difficult for older people to understand because it wasn’t something that they dealt with growing up.David Haye and the Princes Trust

David Haye is constantly in the public spotlight with the whole world watching and listening to him. At times this means that he has had to deal with some extremely negative commentary from certain elements on social media. He explained to the young people that there are always going to be haters on social media and you just need to block them out and ignore them. Listening to the wrong people will limit your potential.

We were able to get some great wide shots which enabled us in the edit to remove unwanted material without having to use jump cuts which can be distracting for the audience. In the final edit we were able to alternate between low and high angles to good effect, as well as cutting to the young people as they posed questions. In addition to the different cameras we had shooting the event we also had a dedicated sound person which helped ensure high quality sound.

The Result of the David Haye Video

David Haye In The Ring The David Haye videos will be used on Prince’s Trust website and on their social media channels. One of the great things about working with the Prince’s Trust is seeing the real impact that their initiatives have on young people’s lives. The young people that participated in the David Haye event were very engaged with the process. There were some real boxing fans among those who attended and so for them it was something of a dream come true. There was also a police constable who acts as a liaison with the Prince’s Trust. He had some boxing experience and he really got stuck in when he had a chance on the bags.

As part of the project we also got invited by the Prince’s Trust to attend David Haye’s fight against Australian boxer Mark de Mori. It was a great atmosphere but with the fight ending in a first round knockout, Bold Content director Adam Neale can lay claim to lasting longer in the ring than de Mori.
