Bold Content Dare to be Bold: 8 April 2022

We celebrate bold content from across the web to inspire marketers and content creators.

Statistics, pie charts, graphs – blurrgh, no thank you, not the content you watch for entertainment. Am I right? But as video content creators, we are quite often faced with a requirement to present data in an interesting manner. So, why not think about ways to do this creatively, rather than resorting back to the ideas of ye olde PowerPoint-esque presentations? This week we look at some content creators who’ve not only done this but have truly smashed it out of the park.

Colt CIO Report

Recently we created a video for Colt Technology Services’ CIO report, and presented the findings in a symbolic and visually interesting way to encourage viewers to download the report. The key here is to look at the information you’re presenting and try to visualise a parallel in the external world, where the narrative represents the same tone, outlook and plotline. In this video, we see a visualisation of being rewarded for going off the beaten track and taking the road less travelled, whilst seeing the key findings appear as text along the journey. As Colt have used cycling allegories in the past, this was a great fit for them and kept the video in line with their brand style and tone of voice.

Kron Stream Graphic

Another way to present data is with stream graphics. As seen in this Kron animation, the visuals have been carefully selected to reflect the mood and tone of Kron’s brand whilst delivering information in a way that is easy to consume. This stream graphic video complements the integrity and the intentions of the brand whilst also sustaining viewer interest. The audio in this piece also not only provides comfort and a sense of calm but it also drives the content forward. Very clever indeed.

 Mars Mission 2024

Artem Badbrother Pravda’s Mars Mission 2024 promo reel is another fine example of an interesting way to present data. Keeping within the energy of space exploration and tapping into the tiny part of all of us who dream of the great beyond this clip is crisp, concise and loaded with mystery. The land scan, the deep and dark colour pallet all keeps within the brand and intention of the information being presented.

House of Cards

Finally, an absolutely spectacular piece created by Brendan Dawes using available LIDAR data from Google 2008 set to Radiohead’s House of Cards. If you’re looking for a piece to inspire you to step off the beaten track and to think out of the box, this is it. Dawes uses the data in a way that evokes so much emotion and raw creativity that you can’t help but yearn to go out and burst through the boundaries of what you once thought constrained you. Believe in yourself and your ability to be this bold and this brave. That is when you discover your creativity is limitless.
