97% of people search online when researching local products and services, according to a study by BIA/Kelsey. One powerful – but often underused – tactic to target those local searchers is video. By geo-tagging your videos for the location of your office or stores you can increase your local visibility online.
Here we’ll look at how you can geo-tag your videos on YouTube in 3 simple steps.
Step #1 – Login to your YouTube account. Click on My Channel and then Video Manager.
Step #2 – Select the video that you want to geo-tag. Click on the Advanced Settings tab underneath the video.
Step #3 – Enter the street address in the box titled Video Location and click the search button. The address will then display on the map below the box. When you are satisfied that it is the correct location click the blue Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.
Next time you navigate back to the Advanced Settings for that video you should notice that the address has been converted into the numerical longitude and latitude for that particular street address.
Geo-tagging your videos can be completed quickly, so if you are using video marketing and want to increase your local visibility it is well worthwhile doing.
