Bold Content Behind The Scenes Of Bold Content’s 2016 Event Video Showreel

Event videos are one of the most frequent requests by our clients. Over the past several years we have filmed in dozens of different locations across the UK and abroad to capture conferences, seminars, trade-shows, panels and more on film.

B2016 Event Showreel Bold Contentecause event videos are such a “bread and butter” part of our business we have been investing heavily in equipment which enables us to capture them in new and interesting ways. Our production team is always trying to push the envelope and use innovative new techniques to make our event videos stand out from the competition.

With all of our great new event footage, we thought it was time to give our showreel a revamp. Tasked with creating the new showreel was our talented young editor Roxy Meekers. We think that the new event showreel looks fantastic and so we thought we would interview Roxy about her vision for the video and how it was created.

What did you want to achieve with the new showreel?

I wanted to do something that would be fast paced and make a real impression. It wasn’t just enough to show what we have filmed recently, I also wanted to the showreel to make an impact. I spend time researching showreels and got inspiration for how to do something that would be edgier and cooler.

What music did you select for the showreel?

I was looking for quirky and edgy music. Once I had found the right track we would fit all of the clips to it. The music I selected was really important because it would define the energy of the finished showreel. Finding that one right track took a long time but eventually I settled on “Be Here Now”. I liked this track Event Showreel 2016 Bold Contentbecause it had very good consistent beat that I could link my scenes to. The shot changes on the beat of the song and so I had to change the shots around to match the music.

Which type of shots were your looking for?

I was looking for what I would call “Beauty Shots”. I wanted to feature nice looking setups, celebrities, and sharply-dressed people to give it a high end feel. I also used a lot of moving shots so that they showreel looked dynamic and exciting.

How was the showreel edited?

The showreel was edited using Adobe Premiere. Effects including the opening sequence were done using Adobe After Effects.
