In today’s competitive workplace students want to be sure that they are taking the right courses to achieve their career goals. Course videos are an excellent way to make students aware of what courses are available and what they will learn if they take those courses. We have created course videos for a number of different schools in the University of London. Included among these are course videos we created for the prestigious London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
The Client: London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
Founded in 1899 the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) specializes in public health and tropical medicine. LSHTM is one of the world’s most highly regarded academic institution in its field of infectious disease and public health.
The Brief: Course Promotional Videos
LSHTM wanted pure advertising videos to advertise their courses one of the big draws of the school is their high profile course leader who was one of the people who discovered Ebola Peter Piot. So our brief included filming introductory piece with him explaining an overview of the school.
We shot x number videos with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The school is uniquely equipped with labs, mosquito farms, and insect incubators which were necessary for us to film as part of the course videos.
Outline Of Project And Interaction With Client
Our production process involved an initial meeting with the digital communications team who commissioned us to create the videos in order to fully understand their desired goals and outcomes.
Our scope of work document then outlined the overall concept and scenarios for the first round of videos that we were scheduled to create in order to facilitate the filming. It was necessary for us to be very flexible until we were agreed upon a schedule. The pre-production, filming and post-production process we remained flexible worked around the busy lecturer’s timetables whilst also meeting all the deadlines.
Milestones were agreed upon early in the process to ensure that our progress was measurable and achievable. Because we working with the digital marketing team they were able to provide us with some fairly detailed audiences personas for us to create the videos for. We kept this in mind every stage of the planning process ensuring that the tone and look of the videos were attractive, engaging and showed the school off in its best light.
Solution Presented To The Client And Impact
We produced videos which were extremely high quality with fast turnaround which allowed the digital department at LSHTM to meet their internal deadlines.
Response Times
In order to be flexible and accommodate the lecturer’s schedules it was often necessary for us to sometimes only film one person at a time. So rather than our usual half day minimum sometimes we would only film for an hour. This meant that we had to create special rates for the LSHTM filming in order to accommodate the project.
We were usually able to within a day’s notice for any filming requests. Due to the nature lecturers changing schedules at LSHTM we needed to remain flexible and there were several occasions when our rapid response times came in very handy.
