Build Upon Event Launch Video For UKGBC [CASE STUDY]

UK Green Building Council is the leading sustainable building organisation in the UK. We were asked by the Council to capture the launch event for Build Upon. Below we’ll look at how we filmed this exciting day of speakers, networking and workshops.

The Client: UK Green Building Council

The UK Green Building Council consists of more than 400 members representing the entire built environment. The Council is both a charity and membership organisation whose mission is to campaign for sustainable building practices.

The Brief: Speeches, Interviews And Promo Video

We were tasked with delivering a series of event video to capture the entire scope of the day. This included filming the various speeches throughout the day, conducting talking head interviews with participants and creating a promotional video which encapsulated the entire event.

The Shoot: Filming The Build Upon Launch Event

The Build Upon launch was a single day shoot in a relatively small space in Central London. In order to capture all of the action we used a four person crew. This included two camera operators, a sound specialist and a runner. When you are doing talking head interviews in a noisy environment like a busy conference having dedicated sound person is invaluable.

We packed in several creative techniques to keep the viewer engaged. This included the use time-lapse, slider shots, a Movi M5 camera stabilisation system, slow motion and macro lenses. Using the Movi M5 stabilisation system allowed us to move amongst the participants of the Build Upon event and bring viewer into the experience. At the same time this relatively small size of the system makes it unobtrusive to the participant.
