Bold Content Case Study: Minelab Event Video

Bold Content recently had the incredible experience of delving into the niche world of detecting. Detecting is a hobby for many people in the United Kingdom (referred to as ‘detectorists’). We had the privilege of working with Minelab, a metal-detector technology provider.

Minelab is the world leader in delivering metal detecting technologies for consumer, humanitarian de-mining, and military needs.

Our client was looking for someone to make a video featuring the Detectival: an amazing annual event minelab event videodesigned to bring together detecting enthusiasts, traders, and manufacturers. Many things would be happening during this event. Fundraising for two selected charities, Asthma UK and The Lullaby Trust, family events such as raffles and a tug-of-war, and of course, a detectorist scavenger hunt.

When Minelab got in touch with us, we sent them previous examples of our event videos. They were immediately impressed with the fast-paced editing, innovative use of drone shots, and high-quality finish of our colour grading. In particular, they were interested in how we could achieve such high-quality with a small, cost-effective crew.

The project for Detectival included not only documenting the event but also live-streaming the launch of Minelab’s latest product. We had to plan carefully in order to accurately be able to capture such a spread-out event.

minelab event videoWe used three camera people, a drone, and a pistol-grip gimbal to capture the action. The drone footage was designed to add a wow-factor to our video, and gave great production value to the finished piece.

In post-production, a fast-paced music track was essential to underscore the action that took place at the event. We edited the entirety in Adobe Premiere Pro and colour graded on DaVinci Resolve. Our client was delighted with the finished product and, has been promoting it on their social channels to their avid fans.
