Every year, Pride Month reminds us to celebrate, support and stand with the LGBTQ+ community. But beyond rainbow logos and corporate campaigns, there are people doing real, creative and community-focused work that deserves our attention year-round.
We’ve pulled together a few standout projects and platforms that are sharing queer stories with heart, purpose, and joy. If you’re looking for inspiration, community, or just want to discover something genuinely brilliant, start here.
We’ll Go Down in History: Trans Joy on the Pitch
TRUK United is a grassroots football team proudly built by and for the trans community. This documentary, directed by Cameron Richards (formerly our lead filmmaker), follows their journey over two years, capturing the emotional highs and hard-fought challenges both on and off the pitch.
It’s a story of solidarity, joy and resistance in the face of rising transphobia, as the team creates a safe haven through sport. From their trailblazing 2022 match as the first side made up entirely of trans women, to their historic games featuring trans masc players and a full-trans squad on Trans Day of Visibility 2024 – it’s a moving portrait of pride in action.
A powerful reminder of what community can do, and a project well worth supporting.
Queer Creatives London
Queer Creatives London is a grassroots platform for LGBTQIA+ artists in and around the city. Their mission is simple: create space for queer creatives to connect, collaborate, and share their work.
They regularly highlight visual art, photography, design, writing and more via Instagram, and also run in-person events – everything from exhibitions and workshops to relaxed meet-ups. It’s a brilliant network for discovering emerging queer talent and making creative connections in a genuinely welcoming space.
Queer Filmmakers Network
For LGBTQIA+ filmmakers looking for community, support, or opportunities – this is the place. Queer Filmmakers Network exists to connect and champion queer creatives in film, whether you’re behind the camera, in front of it, or both.
Their focus is on collaboration, visibility, and making sure queer stories are being told, and told well. From networking events to industry resources, they’re helping build a future where LGBTQIA+ voices are not just included, but central.
Homotopia
Based in Liverpool, Homotopia is the UK’s longest-running LGBTQIA+ arts and culture festival. Since 2004, they’ve supported queer creatives through exhibitions, performances, talks and more, championing everything from emerging local artists to internationally recognised names like John Waters and Jinkx Monsoon.
Their work goes beyond programming – they create space, share queer culture, and uplift LGBTQIA+ voices through art.
Final Word
Pride is more than a month: it’s people, stories and communities that need celebrating all year round. Whether it’s football teams breaking barriers, artists finding their voice, or festivals creating space for expression, these projects are doing the work.
Take a look, follow, share, support. And keep the celebration going.
