Video works perfectly for delivering employee and customer training. Training videos can be visual, highly memorable, cost-effective, and can be delivered whenever and wherever the employee is available. If you are looking for inspiration for your next corporate training video, take a look at our list of the best employee training videos.
Service and hospitality at Chick-fil-A
The shooting style of this piece is important to point out–the video is all about offering warm, genuine service to customers. The lighting and colour grade is also warm, to help reinforce the message. The location is pleasant and in an actual Chik-fil-A restaurant. The presenter himself is a great example of the kind of demeanour the restaurant chain is looking for from it’s employees. This, too, is crucial, because if the co-owner of the chain doesn’t buy into the ethos, why would anyone else?
Instead of using ‘bad service’ examples, the presenter only talks about the positive. This is key because it re-enforces the overall positive outlook the video is trying to convey to the viewer. The presenter also talks about staff in a manner that indicates their employees are equal and valued. This is another important point within the video, as the mannerisms help to boost morale.
Tetley Tea Masters
Videos in which you are instructing a specific technique or process often work best when you show, as well as tell. It may sound simple, but showing how to do something goes a long way in comprehension and retention. This video excels in this manner through the use of camera angles. For example, the top-down angle of the tea brewing process, as well as multiple angles of the presenter, allows for seamless cutting and editing of the process.
The presenter of this video is also very natural on camera, and his ease of speaking establishes him as an expert on the topic. This gives people watching a sense of security that they are not wasting their time, and that they will come away with useful knowledge (the intention of the video).
Active Shooter Training
This training video knows its target audience very well; the filming style, length, and tone of presenter is geared towards the age range of most University students.
The filming style is dynamic enough to get across the speed and urgency that an attack would bring. It could have easily spilled over into feeling like a film or feeling unauthentic, but the non-stylized nature of the video keeps it grounded in reality.
The length is also well-done, because it’s just long enough to convey the necessary information, but it isn’t so long that students switch off.
Hotel Customer Service Training
Whilst by modern standards, this video is very dated in many ways, it’s use of on-screen text is effective. This is a great example of an intro video for a training program. It has high production values all around, such as cinematography, sets, and acting. The benefit of these staged, but well-executed, videos are that they can help the viewers go on to role-play the kinds of situations they may encounter.
The slightly playful nature, coupled with the high production values, make this quite an interesting video to watch.
MTI Security Training
This is a simple but effective video training people how to use different pieces of equipment related to phone security. The main components are a clear narration to take you through the steps, coupled with easy-to-follow demonstrations. This is done through the use of long takes rather than lots of editing, as sometimes when editing something down, it’s more difficult for the viewer to see exactly how something is done. By holding one angle throughout with no cuts, the viewer is assured they don’t miss any steps.
Sage Coffee Appliance Training
This is a more unique video when it comes to training–it is lengthy. This training video really delves into the complexities of the coffee machine it features. The video conveys the knowledge through cutting between a presenter (who also uses a visual aid) and demonstrations at the coffee maker. The video makers have selected an incredibly knowledgeable presenter, which certainly builds credibility. This video gets across a depth knowledge in a to-the-point and concise way, through the use of an informal teaching style.
The Golden Safety Rules
This is a very well-made animation video. You can tell by the level of detail that a lot of care was put into making this video. This can help with the impression that the content was carefully planned out and not rushed in its development. The animation also helps get the message across with pop-ups and text-cutaways.
Tarkett Flooring Installation Training
This video is more of a promo for a series of training videos. The key is showcasing the training courses, and what you will gain from watching them. The instructor is shown to be friendly and professional, which is key, as the industry in question is not regarded as ‘formal’. The video also includes a progression showing that you will go from a bare floor to a completed Tarkett flooring (so it’s a promo within a promo).
