The Animation Process: Character Design

When we design characters we take reference from your colour palette, icons and other supporting illustrations that are incorporated into your brand assets.

Based on our research and our creative experience we will design characters that are appealing to your target audience. We’ll ask for your feedback and the animator will make any adjustments necessary to match your vision.

Sometimes we run focus groups to test the audience reaction to our characters.

With the animation on the top right we were appealing to nursery school children so we designed a selection
of characters based on cute animals and simply asked them which character they preferred. We were surprised by the results but after asking around 60 children, the bunny and panda were clear winners.

The animation middle right was intended to appeal to procurement managers. For this operation we asked a focus group of professionals which character they thought would be sympathetically received by fellow procurement managers. The winning character can be seen in our Colt animation.
